Focus on Current BioData

Current BioData, established by the founders of Swiss-Prot and the Investigational Drugs database (IDdb), combines their unrivalled knowledge and experience of biological data collection, integration and evaluation with expertise drawn from a global network of independent scientific opinion leaders. This unique partnership underlies a series of innovative products designed to accelerate pharmaceutical research in the age of novel protein targets and systems biology, including the Targeted Proteins database (TPdb), the CBD Reviews Journals and a bespoke consultancy service.

Focus on the Targeted Proteins database (TPdb)

The Targeted Proteins database (TPdb) is a daily updated monitoring service, developed for use by Drug R&D companies with involvement in, or looking to be involved in, protein research.

The challenge for these companies is to manage the recent explosion in genomic and proteomic data and the rapidly increasing knowledge about the proteins, enzymes and substrates involved. The TPdb has been developed to gather, filter and critically evaluate this mass of information so that it can be used in a way to enhance, rather than hinder, R&D efficiency.

Constructed around sets of proteins of crucial interest to drug researchers, the TPdb provides web access to relevant data gathered from disparate research communities, consolidated into multiple scientific and commercial dimensions and updated on a daily basis. Over and above this process, the information is further analysed and evaluated by international networks of relevant protein experts to highlight the more interesting aspects and add value by commenting on it’s possible impact on drug R&D.
