Prof. Peitsch is the Global Head of Systems Biology at the Novartis Institute for BioMedical Research and Professor for Bioinformatics at the University of Basel. Prior to his current position, he was Global Head of Informatics and Knowledge Management. With over 10 years experience in the pharmaceutical industry, Peitsch has had several positions with Glaxo where he set up Bioinformatics at the Glaxo Institute for Molecular Biology and became Global Head of Informatics and Knowledge Management for GSK R&D. Peitsch was one of the co-founders of Geneva Bioinformatics (GeneBio), the Swiss Institute of Bioinformatics (SIB) and SwissBioGRID. Peitsch received his Ph.D. in Biochemistry at the University of Lausanne.
