Michael Williams

Dr. Williams is currently Vice President, Worldwide Discovery Research at Cephalon, Inc., West Chester, PA and is also Adjunct Professor in the Department of Molecular Pharmacology and Biological Chemistry at the Feinberg School of Medicine, Northwestern University, Chicago. He has worked for 30 years in the US-based pharmaceutical industry with positions at Merck, Sharp and Dohme, Nova Pharmaceuticals, Ciba-Geigy, and Abbott Laboratories. After retiring from the latter in 2000 as Divisional VP for Neurological and Urological Diseases Research, he worked as a consultant for various VC companies and biotechs in the EU and North America including Genset, Elan Pharmaceuticals, Targacept and Anatalium. Prior to joining Cephalon he was General Manager and VP, Drug Discovery for Molecumetics, a chemistry-based biotech in Seattle, WA. He received his Ph.D. in Neurochemistry from the Institute of Psychiatry and his D.Sc. in Pharmacology, both from the University of London.
