Amos Bairoch, Chairman Current BioData SAB
Prof. Bairoch is Professor of Bioinformatics, and Director of the Structural Biology and Bioinformatics Departments at the University of Geneva. He is also a Co-Founder and now a Group Leader at the Swiss Institute of Bioinformatics. During this time, along with Ron Appel and Denis Hochstrasser, he founded GeneBio (Geneva Bioinformatics S.A.). Bairoch is responsible for the development of the world-renowned protein sequence databases: Swiss-Prot, PROSITE and ENZYME. He is also a co-developer of the ExPASy WWW server and its protein characterization tools. Bairoch received his Ph.D. in Biochemistry from the University of Geneva in 1990.
