Colin Groom

Dr Groom is Head of the Cambridge Crystallographic Data CentreComputer. Before this role, he was Head of the Assisted Drug Design group at UCB, Cambridge, UK. Following an academic career in structural biology, Groom joined Pfizer in 1994 where he established the protein crystallography facility at their R&D site at Sandwich, UK. He subsequently took responsibility for the application of informatics techniques in target and lead identification, in the UK and USA, before joining UCB in 2002. He is active in scientific funding, holding roles in both the EPSRC and BBSRC and is a regular organiser and contributor to scientific meetings and the author of many influential scientific publications and patents. He received his Ph.D. in Structural Biology at the University of Leeds.
