Minoru Kanehisa
Prof. Kanehisa is Director and Professor of the Bioinformatics Center at the Institute of Chemical Research at Kyoto University. He is also concurrent Professor at the Human Genome Center, Institute of Medical Science, University of Tokyo. Prior to joining Kyoto University, Kanehisa worked in the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, in the Los Alamos National Laboratory where he was one of the co-founders of GenBank, and in the National Cancer Institute of the National Institutes of Health. He was Principal Investigator of the Japanese Genome Informatics Project and President of the Japanese Society for Bioinformatics. He received his Ph.D. in Physics from the University of Tokyo.
