TPdb Kinome Module launched
Current BioData’s TPdb is delighted to announce the launch of the much anticipated Kinome module. This new module will provide daily updated drug, patent and disease information on the ~520 human protein kinases in addition to TPdb’s unique validation assessment of each protein’s status as a target in disease, together with specially commissioned reviews of the area. This invaluable resource will provide support to researchers working in this exciting growth area of pharmaceutical research.
An internationally renowned group of scientists has been recruited to provide intellectual support to the in-house team of editors and to comment on the latest research published in the field. The Kinome Virtual Academy, drawn from industry and academia, is headed by Professor Tony Hunter of the Salk Institute for Biological Studies, San Diego and contains notables including Professor Joseph Schlessinger (Yale University School of Medicine), Professor Peter Parker (Head of CRUK LRI), Professor Grahame Hardie (University of Dundee) and Professor James Woodgett (University of Toronto).
Protein kinases are key regulators of intracellular signaling pathways and are implicated in a huge variety of human diseases. A better understanding of the role these proteins play in homeostasis and disease will enable the development of novel therapeutics to build upon the success of compounds such as the tyrosine kinase inhibitors gefitinib (Iressa, AstaZeneca) and imatinib (Gleevec, Novartis).
