Current BioData expansion welcomed by Government

Current BioData is rapidly expanding its operations to meet demand for its flagship Targeted Protein Database (TPdb). A new additional office is being opened at the Institute of Life Sciences, Swansea University, with plans to employ an editorial team of 45 graduate and post-doctoral biochemists and biologists. The decision of Current BioData to locate in Wales and join the country’s rapidly expanding biosciences sector, which employs more than 15,000 people and has an annual turnover of £1.3billion has been welcomed by the Minister for Economy and Transport who praised the exceptional reputation of the founders of Current BioData and stated “Current BioData is an innovative and exceptional knowledge based company and their investment in Wales is excellent news.” Financial support has been provided for the expansion by the Welsh Assembly Government as part of their commitment to further develop biosciences in Wales.
